Alfonso Cuaron's next to to be a drama film

Los Angeles, Sep 9 (IANS): Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron will be partnering with production banner Participant Media on a new untitled film that chronicles a year in the life of a middle-class family in Mexico City in the early 1970s.

Cuaron is directing and writing the drama, which is slated to go on floors this fall in Mexico, reports variety.com.

"This film is close to my heart and my first in Mexico since ‘Y Tu Mamá Tambien'. I am thrilled to be making it with the Participant team," Cuaron said.

The drama marks Cuaron's follow-up to his Oscar-winning film "Gravity".

According to several sources, Cuaron had always intended to make a smaller-scale movie following "Gravity".

"Alfonso is a master storyteller, who breaks cultural boundaries around the world by skillfully connecting audiences through the power of cinema. We are elated to be joining him on this film," said Participant Media CEO Linde.
