Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Sep 10: As per information, police from city have succeeded in getting leads about main accused who were behind posting profane material about Kateel temple Goddess Durgaparameshwari sometime back on the internet. It is said that the police initially arrested a person and from him, got information about other offenders involved with this heinous task.

The arrested person is from Chikkamagaluru. Other than that, the police are not agreeable to provide additional information about him. Sources said that the arrested man is not the main accused. However, it is said that the main accused, currently living abroad, got the task done through him. Police sources said that he has provided several important information to them.

Group based in Gulf

It is said that about 15 persons, who belong to various places from Dakshina Kannada and nearby districts, currently employed in the Gulf countries, have formed a group. Three to four members are active and they get different activities done with the support and cooperation of others. In India, a person from Chikkamagaluru was used as middleman and he got advice to open fake Facebook account and at their advice, he used to post items which hurt religious feelings of others.

It is said that after opening fake Facebook accounts, they used to delete the accounts after keeping it in operation for a couple of days to ensure that their activities remained a secret. It is also said that the accused have formed separate Facebook and WhatsApp groups for exchange information and doing secret activities.

As the accused are working abroad, the central government will have to act. For this, the state government has to take up and pursue the issue with the union government. As the concerned are already aware that their names have been revealed, they may not be easily available for arrest, police believe.

The city police commissioner is personally supervising three teams formed to investigate the issue of posting material that is in poor taste about the Goddess of Kateel.

There must be freedom to abuse religion and god, if god is hurt let him take action.

There cannot be no absolute control on internet, better ignore and move it on. It is very stupid to argue , fight and waste time over facebook posting.

My sincere advise to all those people who get hurt when other mock at you God or religion..
Indulge more in prayers. Make your faith on 'your' God stronger. So strong that no comments by anyone will hurt you at all.
Or try to be as liberal as possible that when someone comments bad on your god, you should feel that those people have the freedom to do that, I am not bothered. Just think that my god or their own God will punish them.

    Shankar,

Your comment is fabulous. People who think the god (who is all powerful) that they pray to needs police protection is silly.

This is the case of poor parenting and poor education. May be during their childhood they were not given basic education about humanity. They must have thought that they will become 'heros' by posting such things.Though they must have earned money by working in gulf, they lost in morality and life and wasted their precious time.
Police should arrest them but never harm them. They should be taken to different temples, churches, mosques of DK and given free food and cloths along with blessings!!. They will realize the how beautiful life is in democratic country like India! They will understand the sacrifices of of our ancestors belonging to all religions, who striven hard to bring out country glory across the globe!!

This incident of hurting the religious feelings of a community should not be tolerated in a civilised society.

The culprits should be booked under various sections of the existing Indian laws, got arrested with the help of the respective foreign governments where they are currently working/residing and jailed for life.

Also, cyber police should take strict action against those hate-mongers who engage in cyber-terrorism/creating of enmity/ill-feeling among various religions, by means of posting/forwarding hate-messages through various means of communication/electronic media.

    Alwyn Crasta,

This incident of hurting the religious feelings of a community should not be tolerated in a civilised society.

    - You have got this backwards. A civilized society needs to have free speech. A society which punishes people merely for expressing their thoughts in no way civilized.

The culprits should be booked under various sections of the existing Indian laws, got arrested with the help of the respective foreign governments where they are currently working/residing and jailed for life.

    - Me being an atheist always have mine sentiments hurt when people invoke god when they comment here at this site. So where should i go to complain?

Also, cyber police should take strict action against those hate-mongers who engage in cyber-terrorism/creating of enmity/ill-feeling among various religions, by means of posting/forwarding hate-messages through various means of communication/electronic media.
    - How is speaking anything against god is hate mongering? towards god? so god requires police protection?

These people have no religion and they should be punished. Give them a treatment so that they will never think of doing similar acts in life.
Authorities also should investigate the facebook accounts like Muslim Yuva Sene, jaisriram55, Veera Kesari facebook groups they spread more hatredness and fabricated news all the time. If you ope these pages you will see the amount of Venoms they spread on society and still confused why the authorities not even bother to censor them.

Some Gulf countries (particularly UAE) have passed very strict laws against mocking and insulting other beliefs, whatever they may be.

So, those countries would be very keen to cooperate with India if they come to relaise that their own laws have been broken by these people.

Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia are very cooperative with police from other countries.

So the DK/Karnataka police must prepare a good docier - including reference to the laws of the Gulf countries - and pass the docier to the Ministrt of External Affairs.

The cuplrits will land in DK in no time.
