Kasargod: Gang robbery by four - Cash, gold and car taken

Kasargod, Sep 10: A complaint has been registered in Manjeshwar police station in the district about a gang of four robbers having snatched away cash, gold ornaments and a car. The robbery had occurred in a house at Kadambar near Manjeshwar on the night of Thursday September 8.

At around midnight on Thursday, a gang of four masked robbers entered the house of Raveendranath Shetty. The gang members flashed sickles which they held close to the necks of Shetty couple, and took away Rs 30,000 in cash, and 30 sovereigns of gold ornaments placed inside cupboards. Shetty said that they also forcibly took away his car. He added that the robbers were inside the house for nearly two hours.

Raveendranath Shetty's wife, Mahalaxmi, claimed that the four robbers used only the words, 'Chup' and 'Nikalo' during their stay. The couple lives alone in this two-storied house.

District superintendent of police, Thomson Jose, Kumble police circle inspector, Manoj, and Manjeshwar sub-inspector, Pramod, visited the spot and collected details. Sniffer dogs and finger print experts also surveyed the area for clues.
