Sea of devotees participate in immersion of Ganesha idol at Brahmavar

Udupi, Sep 10: After five days of prayer and worship, the idol of Lord Ganesha installed by the Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti here, was taken for immersion in a grand procession on Friday September 9.

Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti here has been celebrating Ganeshotsava in a grand way for the past 34 years in which thousands take part with devotion.

 

The procession started from the Government Primary School, Brahmavar and made its way past the old bus stand, main service bus stand, NH 66, Akashavani and culminated at the Mahalingeshwara temple lake. A colourful display of fireworks at Gandhi Maidan during the procession enthralled the crowds.

Thousands of devotees joined in the procession and witnessed the immersion of Ganesha's idol in the temple lake.

Vaman Pai of 'Kuniyo Ganapa' was a special attraction of the programme. Competitions were held for solo, group and Pilivesha participants. Among one group from Chantharu put the Vesha for a cause to build a house for a poor family of Chantharu village which was appreciated by the devotees gathered.

Many took part in various competitions held during the course of the festivities. Pilivesha dance entertained the crowds, with performers entertaining one and all with superb acrobatic skills.
