GURGAON, Dec 13: The wife of Rahul Mahajan, son of the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, on Thursday filed a divorce petition in a local court in Gurgaon.
Shweta Mahajan along with her mother and accompanied by a few lawyers filed the divorce case in the court of District and sessions judge Ramendra Jain.
Shweta has filed for divorce on grounds of incompatibility and mutual consent of both parties. The son and daughter in law of the late BJP leader Promod Mahajan, who wed in August 2006, had been consistently denying reports of a turbulent marriage.
Few months back, it had been reported that Shweta was being subjected to persistent physical and verbal abuse.
Rahul had reportedly beaten up Shweta, leaving her with a cut on the lip, a bruised arm, and a sore back. The incident took place during Rahul's visit to Delhi in the presence of two of his friends.
