Bengaluru, Sep 10: The mass, which began at 8.45 am at Krista Karunalaya Church, Jaraganahalli and 4.00 pm at Christa Prabhalaya Church, Jayanagar, here, was celebrated by Fr Chetan Lobo and co-celebrated by Fr Celestian.
The devotees offered flowers to Mother Mary and participated in the grand celebration. Fr Chetan Lobo led the prayer ceremony at the grotto and the children showered flowers to Mother Mary to the tune of 'Moriyek Hogollsiyan'. The traditional 'Novem' was blessed at the grotto and then brought inside the church in a procession by the priests. In his homily, he highlighted the life and simplicity of Mother Mary and gave examples of how Mother Mary intercedes for us during our daily life.
Naveen Rodrigues, Kenneth Picardo and Lavita Vas led the choir during the holy mass, which was much appreciated and applauded by the entire gathering. Secretary, Noel Fernandes and president Anitha Gomes rendered the vote of thanks at the respective churches.
The evening celebration started with the prayer song led by Zaveena Lobo. Noel Fernandes welcomed everyone on behalf of the committee. Dance, music and spot games were part of the programme. Ashley D'Silva proposed the vote of thanks.
The cultural programme was ably compered by Jasline Lobo.
The programme ended with a sumptuous buffet dinner - traditional 'Novem Jevan' and everyone went home with fond memories of a grand celebration.
