Nethravati Rakshana Samiti to offer prayers for favourable Yettinahole verdict

Mangaluru, Sep 10: Vijay Kumar Shetty president of Nethravati Rakshana Samyuktha Samiti informed that they will carry out community prayers at temples, churches and mosques on September 14.

Shetty was addressing a press meet on Saturday September 10.

Shetty said that they will pray for a favourable verdict for the people of Dakshina Kannada on the Yettinahole project from National Green Tribunal (NGT).

Prayers will be offered on September 14 at Kadri Manjunatheshwara Temple from 8.30 am to 9.30 am, Milagres Church from 10.00 am to 10.30 am, Mangaladevi Temple from 11.00 am to 11.30 am, Ullal Dargah from around 12.00 pm to 12.30 pm and Gokarnatheshwara Temple in Kudroli from 1.00 pm to 1.30 pm. MLA J R Lobo, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and ZP members will also take part in these prayers, Shetty said.

“The chief minister (CM) is isolating the coastal districts. Some officers are suggesting desalination units to be implemented, but Dakshina Kannada district by nature is blessed with water. Let them establish desalination units and supply water to Kolar and Chikkaballapur. Desalination of water is an expensive process.” Shetty said.

Shetty demanded that political representatives should act as the voice of the people.

Harikrishna Bantwal speaking on the occasion said, "This issue had been brought to the notice of Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes who promised to speak to the chief minister, but the CM asked the officers to continue the work. Do the words of Oscar have no value? Oscar Fernandes must speak on this."

Facebook comments on Kateel temple Nethravati Rakshana Samyuktha Samiti condemned the incident of profane comments posted on Kateel Temple deity in Facebook and urged for proper legal action against the culprits.

Dinakar Shetty, Annayya Kulal, Anand Shetty Adyar, Yogish Shetty and others were present at the meet.

    coastal districts are getting isolated because of leaders like you. all development projects are stalled because of vested interests under false pretexts of environment. Meanwhile Mangalore is always in the news for wrong reasons. Top leaders , top officials of state and centre visit Mangalore only for crime investigations.

    Can anyone please tell me why we have elected people in the elections? Is it to represent us or to be on the side of making money? We have so many people from Dakshina Kannada like Ramanath Rai, Khader, Ivan, Lobo, Nalin Kateel and so on. Does their conscience not prick them and tell them that this is the time for them to be on the side of the people who elected them? The people of this district do not want this project to come up because we all know it will spell doom for all of us. Then why are our representative silent? Why are they not uttering a word?
    What is our leader, the district in charge doing? Is it not his responsibility to see that this district does not suffer from this project? We all know how Moily and Gowda have stabbed us in the back for the sake of money. Forget about them. What about the others? Is it not time for all of them to get together and talk to the C.M. about this? As far as Oscar is concerned, the less said about him the better. We all know how useless he is.
