Mangaluru: Bakrid holiday for Udupi, Dakshina Kannada on Sep 12

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Sep 11: The state government has partially modified its order relating to change of Bakrid holiday from September 12 to September 13. Through a modified order, this holiday has been restored to September 12 for Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

As per the annual holiday calendar, the state had fixed September 12 as the holiday for Bakrid. After the moon sighting committee recently approached the government with the information that Bakrid will be held on September 13, the government had suitably modified the government holiday.

However, now the government has again made changes in the order, fixing September 12 as the day of holiday for Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts alone, while September 13 will be the date of holiday for other parts of the state.

Why this Bakrid Holiday confusion always. Let the Muslims celebrate their Bakrid festival according to their customs. Let the Govt. be firm in this regard.
