Udupi, Sep 11: "Unbridled enthusiasm and inebriated persons are the root causes behind troubles which often occur during Lord Ganesha immersion processions. We should seriously think about them and consider ways and means to ensure that the processions are organized in a honourable and orderly manner," said Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade.

He was speaking after inaugurating the valedictory function of the state level convention of Ganeshotava Samitis organized at Kadiyali temple on Saturday September 10 on the occasion of golden jubilee celebrations of the Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti of the city.

"Before the presence of the Lord can be visualized, we have to mentally prepare ourselves. For getting this preparation, prayers and meditation play important roles. Prayer envisages dedicating ourselves to the Lord, and meditation involves getting response from the Lord," he explained.

Kaup MLA, Vinay Kumar Sorake, presided over the valedictory function. Founder of G Shankar Family Trust, Dr G Shankar, released the souvenir brought out on this occasion. Manipal University pro chancellor, Dr H S Ballal, who participated as chief guest, extended his best wishes.

Convener of the Samiti, Vasant Bhat, joint convener, Mattar Ganesh Kini, and general secretary, Raghavendra Kini, were present.

President of the Samiti, K Raghupati Bhat, welcomed and delivered introductory address. Vice president, Andaru Deviprasad Shetty, proposed vote of thanks. Dr Vijayendra Vasant, presented the programme.

Mr.Heggade has spoken the truth. Use of cabaret songs such as "volage hakidare gundu...." choicest abuses to Jayalalitha in unprintable language are also forming part of the procession which is scandalous. There should be grace, dignity and respect when any religious procession is taken out which should evoke reverence.

Whatever Dr.Heggade said is 100% true.

Nowadays in city like Bangalore, every tiny street has started keeping its own Ganapathy.

Where does the fund come from???
They go out to collect money from public forcibly. I have seen drunk rowdies going to chanda for Ganapathy from the houses in the localities. They literally threaten people for money. I doubt even 10% of the money actually goes to the festival celebration. Those people havr drinks for next 15 days from our money.

What is the mean for such kind of celebrations????

Only those people who can manage their own funds for the celebrations should celebrate the festival publicly,, others should bring a small ganapathy at home of their capacity.
