Bengaluru: Ration cards not linked to Aadhar will be cancelled - Khader

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Sep 11: Karnataka food and civil supplies minister, U T Khader, stated that the ration cards which are not linked to Aadhar at the end of this month will be considered as bogus and cancelled. He added that ration card holders in urban areas have time till September 30 to link their cards to Aadhar number. He clarified that if the Aadhar numbers of any of the family members do not get linked this way, names of such member will be deleted.

He was addressing a media conference organized at his room in Vikasa Soudha here on Saturday September 10.

At the same time, if names of eligible beneficiaries have been erased, they can get their names added again if they link the cards to Aadhar number and provide suitable documents.

The minister said that from October onwards, coupons for three months would be distributed at a time, and that the coupon system is being extended to rural areas from next month onwards. "Coupon system has been introduced to identify fake ration cards and with the aim of providing this facility only to eligible people," he explained. At the same time, he stated that coupons would be distributed in rural areas by the department itself as there are technical problems and power supply issues in rural bets. he said that mobile machines will be issued to the districts for issuance of coupons.

Khader stated that process of online admission of new APL cards will be begun within ten days and that new BPL cards will also be distributed beginning from this end.

MLC, Rizwan Arshad, and secretary of the department, Harsh Gupta, were present at the press conference.

Not only Ration Card, the "Mangalore One" Its IT infrastructure to be upgraded.when rest of every thing is computerized, why citizens made paying hard Cash at the counters carrying bulk of cash in their hands to pay Electricity.Water and Property tax by hard cash, this is a wrong practice where cash can be misused by the staff. Since nowadays even the poorest of poor is having an bank account, they can use their Debit card to payoff the bills thru "Mangalore One" so the funds goes to the department account directly and avoid Pimps in between....!!!!.This is a wise call to my fellow Citizens to make our lives better.

Rightly said. But do the authority think how to make like of common people easier? People who are positioned in the administration should go through the fate of the common people. They know to order. And people have to just blindly follow them. Now people are becoming smarter. Saw they should use smart ways to curb the problem. Instead following the same old system and making common people's life miserable shows that we take steps backwards instead of advancing. Politician should learn to be empathetic.

All these comments will never fall on their ears. Only option left for the middle class people is that to look for changes in our system. Come forward with one goal and work towards building our nation that will be for the people. All these past parties have oppressed common people. If we not come collectively they will ruin whole nation by looting us. It's after all our direct and indirect tax money.

I completely agree. Ration cards are meant for poor and low income class people. Middle class and rich should not get these cards and should not have subsidised supplies.

I know many people in my society and friend circle who are rich and are crore and lakhpathies but still holding the ration card and enjoy the benefits of subsidies. They are not farmers but having electricity power connection of 3-phase which was supposed to be given to agriculturists and enjoy benefit. Some of them are even holding 3 - 3 ration cards in different parts of the states.

I support the government should link all bank accounts and all government benefited programmes to adhaar card to identify the true beneficiaries.

Why were fake ration cards issued ?This can be answered only by the corrupt staff at the food and civil supplies department. They are the once who have issued fake ration cards to people and now the innocent people are suffering. The corrupt staff have to be taken to task.

A Constitution Bench led by Chief Justice H L Dattu from Supreme court, clarified that linking of Aadhaar for providing these services will only be on voluntary basis and no person shall be deprived of any benefit for want of Aadhaar.

Adding to the pain New Aadhaar Bill disregard to the Supreme Court ruling.

India is a country a citizen of nation needs to hold multiple identity cards(Passport,Aadhar Card,Ration card,Pan card, voters ID etc) for his/her to accomplish government related works.Whereas as rest of the world national identity card is suffice for any government related work.Apart from that no one knows which document is more valued as an identity proof.

In the present scenario Aadhar card is mess.In order to add a new family member into raion card one need to present all the family members documents which is already listed.

The system need more improvement.Forcing the law is not on a citizen is not appropriate.

Mr.Khadar saab should first check the website and try to apply online. He will understand the hardship of 'Digital India'.

Let the Ministry ask for suggestions and reward to improve the services is my friendly suggestion.
