Mangaluru, Sep 12: It was a lucky escape for the ambulance driver as the ambulance he was driving crashed onto a streetlight after colliding with the divider at Fourth mile near Chevrolet show room at Kuloor this afternoon Monday September 12.

The driver sustained minor injuries in the accident and his name is yet to be known.

As per the eye witnesses, the ambulance was speeding towards the city from Surathkal and when one of the vehicles came close to the ambulance by moving right, the accident occured. In a bid to avoid the collision, the driver climbed the divider courtesy the mud next to it. The vehicle later rammed into the streetlight leaving it in a bent condition.

The traffic police stated that no case has been registered as driver was the only person travelling in the ambulance and he was not injured.

Traffic came to a standstill for almost half an hour in one of the busiest highways of the district and the police cleared the wreckage with the help of the locals.
