Trisha's nod for 'Nayaki' in five minutes: director

Chennai, Sep 13 (IANS): It took southern actress Trisha Krishnan just five minutes to agree to be part of forthcoming Tamil horror-comedy "Nayaki" after being impressed with the film's narration by its director Govi.

"It took just five minutes of narration to convince Trisha to do the film. I wasn't sure when she said 'yes' the first time, so I even asked her again to confirm it. She felt the script had the potential to be a hit and even be liked by critics," Govi told IANS.

The film's story is set in 1980s and Trisha will be seen as a 20-year-old, and in a dual role for the first time in her career.

Govi calls "Nayaki" a retro horror-comedy, a genre that hasn't been attempted before.

"Trisha will be mostly seen in the 1980s look. The story will go back and forth in time. The film is 98 percent comedy and two percent horror," said the director, who will be making his Tamil directorial debut with the film.

Trisha is the "hero" of the film, says Govi, who is also her biggest fan. "Although there's a male lead in the film, Trisha is my hero. I'm her biggest fan and I've always wanted to make a film with her," he said.

The film, which also stars Ganesh Venkatraman, Satyam Rajesh and Sushma Raj, is slated for release on Friday.
