Bahrain: Konkani Kutam celebrates Monthi Fest 2016

Bahrain, Sep 14: Konkani Kutam in the city celebrated Monthi Fest on September 12 at the Sacred Heart Church Social Hall here with a gathering of over 250 members and guests. The event started at 6.00 pm with the choir singing hymns while children gathered in procession near the beautifully decorated statue of Infant Mary. Parish priest Fr Freddy led the prayer service followed by the choir and congregation singing ‘Saakad Sangatha Melya’ while children showered flowers on the statue of Infant Mary.












































Freddy in his feast message stressed the importance of togetherness of mind and hearts, he praised the association for their efforts of bringing the Konkani speaking community together as a family. Fr Freddy appreciated the people gathered for their enthusiasm and desire to come together and celebrate this feast. Konkani Kutam convener Henry D’Almeida in his address stated the meaning and importance of celebrating monthi feast as a family feast and thanked Fr Freddy D’Souza, Konkani Kutam’s supporters and all the members for their continued support to the association year after year for the past 16 years.

The cultural programme commenced with a welcome dance performed by Evita, Ashel, Halona and Clarina which was choreographed by Rencilla followed by a group song by Sandra, Reema, Shanthi, Sydney and Christopher. Music was composed by Orville Sequeira. A solo song by Preetham followed by comedy skits from the Pokri group made up of Stany, Sujay, Avinash, Teena, Sajitha and Maxim. The cultural programme continued with dance performances by Ashlyn, Stephine, Daryn, Orville. The patriotic song was by GOVM semi finalists Laveena, Stephany, Teena, Vivitha, Soniya, Sachita, Christopher, Preetham, Ronald, Aaron and Nelson. Further songs were sung by Shryal Vaz followed by comedy skits and a patriotic song by Teena.

Grace before meals was said by Freddy. A sumptuous vegetarian dinner was served on plantain leaves followed by Mangaluru’s favorite desert, vorn.

The programme was conducted by Walter Dantis and vote of thanks proposed by Stany D’Souza. The wonderful music was played throughout by DJ Francy’s with foot-tapping masala songs at the end.
