Mumbai: Newly-appointed Cardinal Oswald Gracious Feliciated at Matunga

Mumbai, Dec 15: Archbishop Oswald Gracious of Mumbai Archdiocese who has recently been promoted as Cardinal was felicitated at Don Bosco church hall at Matunga here on Friday December 14.
Bishop Bosco Penna offered solemn Holy Eucharist on this occasion while Auxiliary Bishop Percival E Fernandes and many more Bishops concelebrated the Eucharist. Nearly twenty priests, hundreds of nuns and thousands of lay people gathered in order to honour Cardinal. Union minister Oscar Fernandes was the chief gust and Chief minister of Maharashtra Vilas Rao Deshmukh felicitated the Cardinal.
Last week Pope Benedict XVI had appointed Archbishop Oswald as the Cardinal at the Vatican. It was last year he was appointed as the Archbishop of Mumbai. On this occasion Catholic Council of India’s member Albert W D’Souza, Archbishop’s secretary Fr Bartholomew Baretto, Blossom Fernandes, MP S Handore, Mumbai Congress women’s wing president Jenet L D’Souza, MLA K Jagannath Shetty, MLA Anni Shekhar, All India Catholic Union Maharashtra state president Lawrence D’Souza, former police commissioner Rony H Mendonca, Catholic Bishop’s Conference of India executive secretary Fr Henry D’Souza were present at the felicitation programme.
On behalf of the Mangalore Christian Community Albert W D’Souza and Elwin D’Souza and family presented a bouquet to newly-appointed Cardinal.
