Mangaluru, Sep 14: Dakshina Kannada BJP Raitha Morcha staged a protest against the Congress led state government on anti-farmer policies and fulfilling the various demands of the farmers here on Wednesday September 14.

Speaking at the protest, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, "When Narendra Modi was CM of Gujarat, CM Siddaramaiah called him a murderer (Narahanthaka). In the last 3.5 years, 1000 farmers have committed suicide and the government lathi charged the farmers in the state. This is why Siddaramaiah termed him a murderer. Though the union government has asked to prepare a scientific survey report to provide supportive prices to farmers, for the past 1.5 years the state government has failed to submit the report. Though 1000 farmers in the state committed suicide CM Siddaramaiah has not shed a tear, but when the cattle thief died in a shoot out at Sringeri, lakhs of rupees was announced."

"When the BJP government was in power, procurement price for milk was hiked, but the Congress government has failed to do so. Though there are problems of wild elephants, forest minister for state is asleep and the entire government and CM are asleep as well. There is increase in the supportive price of sugarcane and for areca growers."

He also said that IAS and police officers were driven to 'Hagga Bhagya' and 'Athmahathya'.

On the Yettinahole issue he said, "The state government for the past 3 years has failed to call a meeting on Yettinahole issue, with experts and stakeholders. We are not against providing water, but the government has failed to throw light on the project and has kept people in the dark. If Yettinahole project is not resolved, the same protest which took place for Cauvery, will take place in DK as well. Do not play politics with drinking water. You are asking the PM to intervene on Cauvery issue, but you
have failed to solve the dispute and this is shameful. Stop releasing water to Tamilnadu."

Raitha Morcha district president Rajiv Bhandary, state Raitha Morcha vice president Shanthaveerappa Gowda, district BJP president Sanjeev Matandoor spoke at the protest.
