Udupi, Sep 15: Golden jubilee celebrations of Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti, Kadiyali Udupi concluded on high note with the grand immersion of the idol on Wednesday September 14, after the 9 days of worship.
The colourful procession began from the Kaythiyani Mantapa, Kadiyali and passed through Kalsanka, Badagubettu, Car Street, Thenkupete, Ideal Circle, Old Diana, KM Marg, Shrerubedu, Bannanje, Karavali Bypass, Kalmady, and finally culminated at Malpe beach.
During the procession various tablos like Dollu Kunitha, Talimmu, Pilli Dance, Kahali, Bajane group, and around 15 more groups took part, while committee members wore Kesari Peta giving a unique glow to the occasion.
On the way Prasadam were distributed to the devotees. Muslim community also sponsored cold drinks and distributed for all the gathering at Welcome Tower. Dollu Tasha Patak team from Pune with 100 members carrying dollu was the special attraction of the immersion programme.
Colourful fireworks were also held at Malpe beach. Though idol of Lord Ganesha was heavy, devotees carried it for immersion at the beach.
The procession was environment friendly as a vehicle followed the procession and helped in cleaning the leftovers and discarded items.
