Puttur, Sep 16: The CCTV footage in a mobile shop in Nelyadi has deemed spurious, the allegations against Salim, the shop owner, attempting to molest a girl in the shop.

The Shiradi-origin girl had come to the mobile shop in Nelyadi on July 10 to get a mobile recharge. The girl had later complained to Uppinangadi police station that Salim, in the shop, pulled her hand and tried to molest her. The police, who acted on her complaint, seized the CCTV camera in the shop. The Hindu organizations alleged that the police registered a weak case against the suspect, and took the complaint forward to the superintendent of police.

When the CCTV recordings were seen in Nelyadi police station, in the presence of the said complainant and the leaders of Hindu organizations, no pictures of manhandling the girl, were found, but the scenes of giving and taking money. Puttur assistant superintendent of police, Rishyanth meanwhile explained to the girl and leaders of Hindu organization that the investigation is progressing in the right direction.

Leaders Ravi Prasad Shetty, Ravichandra Hosavaklu and parents of the girl were present at the meeting. Circle inspector Anil Kulkarni, sub-inspector Thimmappa Naik and Nelyadi outer police station staff held an inquest under directions from the Puttur assistant superintendent of police.

Meanwhile, Salim expressed anguish at the false case against him. He said that those who could not stand his progress have tried to malign his image by false case. “I will be complaining to the police to take suitable action against those who tried to humiliate me,” he said.
