Kundapur, Sep 16: Three bridges which were demanded from several decades are getting ready to be built here this year. The bridges being- Kannadakudru in Hemmadi grama panchayat limits, Anagalli bridge connecting Kundapur to Anagalli, and Maharajaswami bridge creating contact with Nada from Maravanthe and Padukone. The work on the bridges has begun and will be open for use soon.

The Anagalli bridge

Constructed at a cost of Rs 5.95 crores, it is 75 meters long and 7½ meters wide. The bridge is built to bring Kundapur and Anagalli gramas even more close so as to pave a convenient path for goods transport. It would also help in the development of Anagalli grama. One can reach Basrur from Kundapur Sangam via Anagalli. The work of joining the bridge to the road is in progress.

The Maharajaswami bridge

Above the Sauparnika river with construction costs amounting to Rs 4.95 crores is the 150 meters long and 8½ meters wide bridge. At present, one has to take a long route from Kundapur, to Padukone and Nada. Additionally, small boats ferried people from Padukone to Maravanthe, so far. As an alternative, the bridge is being built near Maharaja swamy temple, connecting the places, bringing them closer to each other.

The Kannadakudru bridge

Being built with the help of advanced technology, this bridge of 75meters lengh and 6½ meters width, costs Rs 8.5 crores. The bridge is expected to bring about development in the Kannadakudru island. Work is under way, as the road from national highway to Kannadakudru bridge is being tarred alongside the construction of the bridge.

All the three bridges are being constructed by Philip D’ Costa and Company, which is well known for its quality work. The company has constructed other recent bridges in the area.
