Udupi: Youth in judicial custody for attempted rape

Udupi, Sep 17: Kaup station police have arrested a youth for trying to sexually molest a young girl. The arrested youth is identified as Kothalkatte resident Abhijith (25).


Abhijith had reportedly waylaid the girl who was returning home after work near Kaup firewood depot near Janardhan dwara on the evening of Thursday September 15 and tried to sexually molest her. As the girl raised an alarm, Abhijith fled from there.

The girl lodged a complaint at Kaup police station at night.

Kaup SI Jagadish Reddy and police staff have arrested the suspect near Koppalgundi on Friday September 16 morning. He has been produced in court which has ordered for his judicial custody till September 29.
