Kuwait: Goan Overseas Association Celebrates Festive Season

Kuwait, Dec 16: Goan Overseas Association (Goa Maroons) organized their annual Christmas Tree Party ‘Lets Be Friends’ at the Swiss-Belhotel Plaza (Kuwait City), on Friday the 7th of December 2007. With the seasonal spirit in mind, the packed gathering of over 250 guests enjoyed themselves from 11:30am until 7:30pm.
Kuwait’s leading band ‘Stepping Stones’ delighted the gathering with some soothing carols, sublime oldies and the latest chart busters, and the ‘Music Masters’ (DJ) ensured the floor was never empty with the young and the old having a great time. Kuwait’s numero uno MC, Lloyd D’Souza with his usual wit and humor ensured the continuity of the program.
With the theme ‘Christmas is for Children’ the event included a variety of programs including, Early Bird Gifts , games for children of all ages, games for teens, the ‘Lets Be Friends’ and the novelty special. The highlight of the program was of course the grand entry of Santa Claus, who immediately set about distributing goodies and toys to all the children & teens present. The adults too had their share of the bounty, as numerous prizes, gift vouchers and hampers were distributed during the program to lucky winners including spot prizes.
A ‘Tableau’ unfolding the birth of Jesus was superbly enacted by little children and was appreciated by one and all.
The members of the G.O.A Junior Club who participated in the Soccer Coaching Camp organized by the Association were also issued certificates during the program. The coaching camp was organized during the summer season and attracted over 40 children of different ages.
Raymond D’Sa, President of G.O.A in his address welcomed the guests and spoke briefly on the Association’s achievements in the last 28 years and hoped the spirit of friendship shared by the G.O.A family during the program would continue over the years. He also thanked the sponsors and advertisers Al-Manafa Trading and Contracting Co, Basem International Trading Co, Indian Airlines, Gulf Bank, AlMailem Group of Cos., Alitco, Otis, Skylink Arabia, ABB, Srilankan Airlines, Joy Alukkas, Hotel Crowne Plaza and the managing committee for their strong support.
