Mangaluru, Sep 18: “Police investigation on any case depends on the letter ‘I’ which stands for ‘Integrity’ and also found in POL‘I’CE,” said former DySP Anupama Shenoy while interacting with media persons about CID filing ‘B’ report on DySP Ganapati suicide case.
She was speaking in a programme 'Hyderabad Independence Struggle' organized by the Yuva Brigade here at TV Ramana Pai Convention Centre on Saturday September 17.
“When there are no evidences and the case is false then police file ‘B’ report. If it is ‘C’ then it is understood that the accused in the case is absconding. In DySP Ganapati suicide case, public believe that it comes under case A. The investigation depends upon police integrity, if they (police) want to file charge sheet then they need to collect evidences.”
“I want to tell the government that people consider them as god. We call works of government as work of god. The government was trying to bring anti-superstition bill which saw an increase in superstitious activities. People indulge in such things because of insecurity. In various situations we cannot take any decisions. Government has implemented certain laws which should be as per the Constitutions of India.”
“At present, politics is interfering in the investigation of government agencies like police, CBI, IB, Lokayukta and ACB. Most of the cases are investigated favouring political interests. Educated people should understand that.”
“Situations in Karnataka is no different. In previous government, because of Lokayukta CM was jailed. Institutions like Lokayukta are made toothless and ACBs are created to suit political interests. Political interference has resulted in rise of corruption and institutions made to check corruption are made to watch it silently. The onus now rests on people, we have elected our representatives and we need to correct them if they indulge in corruption.”
“I did not oppose the Congress party. When I go to vote, I just see the candidate and his calibre. When I went to vote, I was not carried away in Modi wave. I had voted Yeddyurappa but later developments hurt me. And in this election, I voted Jayaprakash Hegde and Vinayakumar Sorake in my constituency. It pains me when the government does not work according to its promises. Who should punish the corrupt politicians? Government is not a dictatorship. Government should function democratically. We should show the power of populace when the politicians go against the interest of common people.”
Turning emotional about her resignation, she said, “There was pressure for my resignation. I was hopeless when I resigned. When the election code of conduct was imposed, I was transferred. This was not only against the law but also against the constitution. For proper functioning of democracy, during elections there should be proper elections code of conduct. To amend certain laws, permission has to taken from election commissioner. After election code of conduct was imposed, I was transferred for a silly reason. I never opposed the politician but I opposed my transfer order.”
“When my transfer was questioned, election commission wrote a letter to DG. In Gulbarga meeting DG told if she wants justice then let her go to court. The transfer order was signed by DG. He should not have signed the letter just because of political pressure. If election code of conduct need not be followed then why impose election code of conduct? Filing ‘B’ reports on Kallappa, Ganapati, DK Ravi cases and holding women responsible for their death is just an eye wash.”
“The representative who wins elections by distributing sarees watches blue films in assembly and a representative who distributes alcohol would snore in the assembly. Unless we fight for our rights, corruption will continue to haunt our society.”
“People of Hyderabad and Karnataka are innocents and suffer in the hands of corrupt politicians. In these parts, people depend on agriculture and believe in Karma and Bhakti. Because of their innocence, the contractors exploit them by providing poor quality seed and manure which results in poor yield. Thus, many of farmers commit suicide.”
Speaking further about her resignation, she said, “I have filed two resignations. I plan to fight legally on this issue. On 28-8-2016, I wrote a letter to government about withdrawal of my resignation on technical reason. Authorities have assured to review my plea. CM also called me with regard to the letter.”
