Bengaluru: Torching of buses during Cauvery turmoil - A woman, 10 others arrested

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Sep 19: A total of 11 persons including a woman stand arrested by the city police personnel in connection with the burning down of buses belonging to KPN Travels during the agitation against the Supreme Court verdict in Cauvery river water sharing row in the state on September 12. A number of people have handed over video recordings of the violent rampage in the city on this fateful day, and a total of 28 video footages have been gathered by the department so far.

The police are hunting for the other accused. The arrested woman has been identified as Bhagyashree (21), a resident of D'Souza Nagar in the city. She belongs to Yadagiri district and has been a resident of the city since the last three years. Bhagyashree earns her living by working as coolie. She is claimed to have been enticed into torching the buses by miscreants who offered her Biryani in return for setting buses on fire. Rajarajeshwari Nagar police confirmed about the identity of the woman.

During the riots on September 12, 42 persons including Bhagyashree had torched 42 buses belonging to KPN Travels. She was arrested on Friday. During her interrogation on Sunday, she is believed to have given details about some miscreants involved with this act.

In all likelihood, the government will issue an order to hand over investigation into the incident in which buses belonging to KPN Travels were torched in its entirety to criminal investigation department. The order is likely to be issued today.

Absolutely a good step by the City Police. What kind of message are we giving to the external world, from where we expect huge investments for job creation?? How can anyone think of investing, when we behave in an irresponsible manner?? There needs to be a decent way to project grievances, not by destruction and disturbance, creating huge losses?? Who loses?? only you and me who have to earn our daily living. Let us stop throwing stones on our own house. Lets refrain from damaging public or private property on the pretext of demanding service. Unless we show that our home is secure and sound, no investment is going to flow into the country.

When 42 buses were burnt one after other, what was the police doing? What was Fire Department was doing? What was the leaders representing the national and state political parties of that ward was doing? It was the failure of the rotten system and the government. The dirty political organisations have infused so much hate in the minds of the people that they fail to think rationally and they turn destructive force. Instead of questioning the ward leaders, the police and the fire department they identified few scapegoats to escape from their own failures. Handsome is that handsome does. Unity in Diversity is our Strength.

Hope all instigators/perpetrators of mindless/senseless/destructive violence are brought to book and taught a lesson that they will never forget in their life-time (punishment should ideally be of life-imprisonment or prison sentences of not less than 15 years of rigorous imprisonment), which will deter other mischief-mongers from indulging in destruction of public/private property.

Finally, the loss suffered is of the people of India, i.e., you & I, who have to bear the burden of higher levies/taxes towards losses suffered in riots (mainly borne by State-owned Insurance companies).

Not a surprise .... When the whole BJP leadership CHEATED the Supreme court, by giving a false declaration to SC that Babri Masjid will be protected... soon after that Babri Masjid was demolished... Then what can be expected from our citizens ...

KPN belongs to a person who expanded his operations with decades of hard work. His only crime apparently is that he is a Tamilian caught in the line of fire.
Why should a person be targeted to the issues between states.
Congress will not get Tamil votes in any case so they will not be interested to do justice to him.
There is no issue of Dalit, Muslim, Minority etc.
People like Arnab Goswami have no time for this issue.
Kejriwal is not finding any votes in this issue.
Our Rajnath Singh of Kadi Ninda fame is good for giving only statements.
Where will people go for justice?

The government should introduce a legislation that would enable authorities to punish the people who cause damage to property and life if the present law is inadequate. Cost of damage should be recovered from these people in addition to punishment as per CRPC.

Actually what she did was wrong. But see the comment. She was promised biryani. This clearly states that the miscreants took advantage of her poverty. Even if she rots in jail it will make no difference as the real culprits are sitting outside. Until they are prosecuted then it is of no use even if they take any action against this lady. I don't support her but everyone knows what is true.

The easiest way to stop this nonsense is " recover the loss from the people responsible" and if they do not have sufficient funds, then their properties should be confiscated to adjust the damages.
This kind of incidents will never happen again.

It is reported that 25,000 crore is lost due to this goondagiri.. With the same amount, desalination plants could have started in coastal districts, which can supply water to Bengaluru and Ammas state ...

True. Around 1000 people should have been arrested for this. They should be asked to pay for the huge losses suffered, and also for future losses in case it happens unfortunately due to rioting.
