Sullia, Sep 20: "Hindu culture is under constant attack by way of Love Jihad, religious conversions, denigration of Hindu gods, cow slaughter and other means employed by people belonging to other religions. We cannot tolerate these things anymore. Strong and concerted protest programme is the only means through which we can hope to hit back. This strong message is sure to reach every corner of the country from this town," said Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, member of south central regional executive of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

He was addressing a meeting held in front of Lord Chennakeshava temple here on Monday September 19 for registering protest against religious conversions. This protest meeting was organized in connection with heightened tension gripping the taluk on account of rising instances of suspected religious conversions being reported. The programme was held under the aegis of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and other Hindu organizations.

"Hindus from our country have provided facility for Muslims and Christians to build their places of worship. But some forces are engaged in anti-national activities which cannot be tolerated. It would be wrong if the people feel the generosity of Hindus as their weakness," he remarked, duly asking Hindu society to stoutly oppose invasion on their religion and culture. "For taking out procession in front of mosques, we need prior permission. Are we moving on roads of Pakistan?" he questioned. He challenged those involved with converting Hindus to stop playing games insidiously and be ready for open fight. In his address, he also dealt with dress code, population explosion, Babri Masjid, mobile messages etc.

Dr Bhat admitted that the police had advised him against delivering addresses that are inflammatory in nature. "But I have been left with no other alternative but to keep my response strong because of incidents which are provocative in nature," Bhat confessed.

RSS Mangaluru division Karyavaha, Na Seetaram, criticized the intelligentsia, who he said, project themselves as seculars and brand people speaking on behalf of Hindus as communal, while remaining silent over the plague of religious conversions happening all over the country.

A large crowd had gathered. Taluk president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Ganapathi Bhat Majigundi, and president of Hindu Jagran Vedike, Jayant Madappady, were present at the dais. A T Kusumadhar welcomed and proposed vote of thanks.
