Mangaluru: Boat capsizes- Five swim to shore, one missing

Mangaluru, Sep 20: A boat capsized at Alivebagilu near Ullal on late Monday, September 19. Five fishermen swam from the place of mishap and managed to reach the shore while one is missing.

Hamid from Kumta in Uttara Kannada district is the person missing.

The mechanized boat belonging to Abubakar Ashraf from Kasaba Bengre had left for deep sea fishing on September 16 with six fishermen on board.



Search for the missing person is on.

    Sad news. The port authorities should ensure that fishermen wear life jackets while they leave the harbor for fishing. All fishing boats should have the life jackets and all fishermen wear them compulsorily.
