Puttur: Issue of overtaking between auto and lorry - two in custody

Puttur, Sep 21: Relating to fight between a gang supporting lorry driver and occupants of an auto rickshaw over not allowing the truck to overtake, which happened at Karuvelu near Uppinangady on Monday September 19, both the sides have filed complaints against each other. Two of the arrested were produced in the court on Tuesday.

In his complaint, Mustafa from Neerakatte alleged that Satish and four others had attacked him and snatched away cash of Rs 15,000 in his possession. On the other hand, Prakash, who has been admitted into hospital, alleged that Muhammed Arafat, Ibrahim, Madarabettu Shukur and about 25 others had attacked and inflicted physical injuries on him. He further said that the gang took away Rs 2,000 in cash and a two-sovereign gold chain from him.

The two arrested accused, Muhammed Arafat and Ibrahim, were produced in the court on Tuesday. Both have been remanded to judicial custody.

    What ever the issue is - it is very often seen the three wheedlers overtaking from the left of a moving vehicle even when the the vehicle is driven at the optimum speed. This is contrary to rules.

    Hope all concerned understand this and ensure that rules are followed at all costs.
