Udupi, Dec 18: The annual festivities of historic Sri Kodamanithaya Temple, located at Shibaroor (Tibar), near here, started on Monday, December 17 morning. 

 

Various Vedic rites were held throughout the day during ‘Mahotsav’.  The annual festivities will be held from Monday December 17 to Saturday December 22.  The free food offerings held in the afternoon was savoured by over 10,000 devotees.  The ritualistic celebrations here, has significance for sandalwood and holy water. 

‘Nemotsav’ was held on Monday December 17 night, to seek divine intervention and in order to solve family feuds and other issues, confronted by families of the devotees.

    Shibaroor (Tibar) is nowhere near Udupi. It is in Delanthabettu village (between Permude and Katipalla) in Mangalore taluq. Why dateline it Udupi?
