Mangaluru: City to hold Dasara celebrations in grand manner from Oct 1 to 11

Mangaluru, Sep 24: Mangaluru Dasara (Navaratri) 2016, organized by famous Sri Gokarnanatha Kshetra, Kudroli will be held from October 1 to 11, revealed Padmaraj R, treasurer of Kudroli Gokarnanatha Kshetra Temple managing committee.

He was addressing a press meet at the temple auditorium here on Saturday September 24.

"Mahanavami Utsav will commence with Guru Prarthana and Punyaha Homa. Installation (Pratisthapana) of idols of Sharada and Nava Durga simultaneously will be held at 11.15 am at Swarna Kalamantap along with religious rituals. Annasantharpane - offering of midday meal to the devotees will be held on all the days. There will be a cultural programme by renowned artistes everyday at Santhoshi Kalamantap. Dasara Shobha Yathra will be held at 4 pm on October 11. The procession will proceed from the main streets of the city which will be decorated with lacs of colourful lights," Padmaraj added.

Speaking on the occasion former union minister B Janardhana Poojary said, "People from all over the world come here to participate in the festivity as Mysuru Dasara and Mangaluru Dasara are world famous. A Dasara celebration is people's programme where they voluntarily take part.”

On the occasion, president of the temple managing committee H S Sai Ram, vice president Raghavendra Kulur, Ravishankar Mijar, Harikrishna Bantwal, K Mahesh Chandra, Dr Anusuya B T Salian, D D Kattemar, Leelaksha Karkera and others were present.
