Daijiworld Media Network-Puttur (RJP)

Puttur, Sep 25: A bus conductor jumped into river from a moving bus after an argument with a woman passenger regarding the money she had given to him to buy her ticket.

The incident happened near Subramanya on Sunday, September 25. Search is on to locate the conductor Devdas (42) a resident of Vamanjoor.

As per details, the government bus was going to Subramanya from Mangaluru. A woman who was travelling in the bus said that she had given Rs 500 to conductor  to buy her ticket and Devdas disputed with her  saying she had given him only Rs 100. That led to severe arguments between them and they went to Kadaba police station and after that the journey continued.

It is not clearly known what compromise was worked out at Kadaba police station. When the onward journey was on, the woman picked up the fight again with the conductor. Pained by this, Devdas jumped into the Kumaradhara river from the moving bus.

Bus driver has lodged a police complaint at Subramanya police station.

The search is on for Devdas.Further details are awaited.

excuse me mam. Conductors ask "naal rupee unda, onji type inda". that's because of ur failure to give him exact amount. if u give exact amount he will never ask like that. try to carry some chillar while traveling in bus.

GET THE FEED BACK INFORMATION FROM OTHER CONDUCTORS ON THIS ROUTE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED SUCH LADIES.
OTHERWISE LADY COULD NOT BE BLAMED FOR CONDUCTORS WRONG DOING OF NOT MENTIONING BALANCE AMOUNT BEHIND THE TICKET ISSUED IF HE DON'T HAVE SUFFICIENT CHANGE.

Will this woman live peacefully. If she is the cause for this poor conductor to end his life,I think guilt feeling will consume her day by day. This is what i have witnessed in many people.Because we have no RIGHT to hurt others.

One person's Alzheimer disease has driven the poor conductor to take this extreme step.

Hope the conductor is found alive.

One piece of advice to whomever wishes to take it...

While travelling in buses, please carry a few rupee 10 or rupee 5 notes. Do not just flaunt a 100/500 notes in the bus to show off your wealth.

    Thank you.

Rita 30 normal people including me agree with you. I think one millionaire travelling by bus with big notes disagreed at this time.
How about like over here. Before you can take the seat you must put the exact fare in the box near the driver (there are no conductors in the bus). You can put more but don’t ask change. Else get down from the bus.

I experienced so many such incidents. Conductors ask for ticket immediately once we board the bus. But they forget to return the balance amount for which we should keep on asking till we reach our destination. Whatever the currency you give, they ask" onji rupayi unda, naal rupayi unda..." which misleads our calculation in getting back the balance amount. Jumping into river is silly matter. May his soul RIP.

anybody who was present in station and can put light on how he was handled at station. Was he handled very rudely by police which is usual while opponent is a girl. We know this fact. If somebody who can put light on that part... we will be in a better position to realize the reason what made him to take this extreme step. since many folks wrote about him and his good background... suspect something would have gone wrong at station. that may also be the reason for girl to pick the topic again on onward journey... when he took this step... RIP

    RIP
Conductor has written suicide note behind the ticket book as per media. It says he does not want to live a life with false blames. He is a honest man and was awarded recently for his dedication to work. Such people are rare in the govt services. While dying he was holding his hand with Namaste. His act is not right, he must have fought for justice.. If the woman has any guilt she must come forward and apologies to his family so that his soul will rest in peace and the family dignity restored

Yes, I read in the newspaper he was very sincere person and got "Best Conductor" award. I think he was very sensitive. Otherwise he would have not taken it so serious. Sometimes those people who give much respect to morality, they will be sensitive also.

RIP Bus Conductor. It could be a sudden burst of anger which led to this action by the conductor. There are many people who are very calm and never get angry. Whenever they undergo pressure like a incorrect accusation or a rumor, they cannot take it and take a extreme step out of frustration.

There are people looting crores of public money, taking hefty loans just to cheat the bank and public... Finally they abscond for further loot. They don't have any self respect at all... these are behaving as dignified people of society. Then why should we, tom, dick, harry are afraid of such things? we should build up courage ourselves...

If this conductor is a cheater he would never have jumped, because he is upright he felt ashamed in public and might have taken the drastic step in that moment of desperation, the lady should be asked to clear as she might have mistaken 100 for 500 or given 500 to some others thinking 100, or for some other reasons. It is very sad that people lose hopes including police officers for silly reason that is a part and parcel of one's work and life. Every job has its risk, especially handling money and other valuables like gold and ornaments.

Our mindset is such that we trust women more than men. SO everyone favours women in the bargain men suffers/ Be it in divorce marriage or business. Who knows the conductor may be telling the truth and might have been insulted and felt bad and jumped tp river. Hope he comes out safe
