Modi, Advani Booked for Poll Code Violation

Ahmedabad, Dec 20 (mb): The Ahmedabad police have registered a case against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani for violation of the model code of conduct during the assembly elections last week.

According to police sources, the two leaders had made claims about their party's victory on Sunday, the day of the second phase of polling, before mediapersons within 100 metres of polling booths - which amounts to a violation of the model code of conduct.

The case against Modi has been registered at the Sabarmati Police Station while the one against Advani has been registered at the Shahpur police station.

The cases have been registered on the basis of complaints lodged by the Election Commission officials.
