Doha: Mangalore Cricket Club Presents 'Konkan Sabram'

Doha, Dec 20: The Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Qatar, in its 15th year can truly be described as a vibrant community.  Today, it is immensely proud, thanks to an effervescent organization, which easily catapults it to amongst the premier expatriate organizations in Qatar.

Since 1992, each year, MCC is overwhelmed by the response it receives at the various events and shows that it hosts – be it the cultural shows, cricket tournaments, talent and singing competitions or the acclaimed Ladies Throw Ball Tournament.

While the impeccably presented Cultural stage shows by prominent Artistes invited from back home have provided avenue for entertainment to the expatriate community, they have also given opportunities to the local artistes to showcase their talents. 

Continuing this tradition, in the coming New Year, MCC is organizing  the biggest ever Mangalorean Konkani Show in Qatar,  the MEGA SHOW, “KONKAN SAMBHRAM-2008” on January 18, 2008, at the Doha Cinema.  The evening will be a fusion of Scintillating Songs, Fabulous Dances and Side Splitting Comedy by renowned Konkani artistes from Mangalore, Mumbai and Doha, namely, ‘Sangeeth Samrat’ Henry D’Souza, ‘Yodeling King’-Melwyn Peris, ‘Konkan Kalashree’-Claud D’Souza, ‘Konkan Manik’-Wilson Olivera, Norbert Pereira, accompanied by acclaimed female singers Anita Samson and Zeena Pereira.  ‘Music Maestro’ Joel Pereira and his troupe, including trumpet player Theodore Alvares, drummer Melwin Fernandes, Base guitarist Christie Mascarenhas and  Lead guitarist Agnello Rodricks will provide the  foot tapping music.  Comedian Jerry Rasquinha and the popular MC and compere Leslie Rego will add glitter to gold with their in-imitable style.  In all, a troupe of 12 artistes will be specially flown in from Mangalore & Mumbai for this event.  This Mega event is sure to make history in the Konkani Cultural scene of Qatar.
