Kundapur, Sep 26: The municipal council which has started digging across roads horizontally as part of underground drainage project has added to the woes of commuters. To make matters worse, heavy rain has left the narrow roads literally unusable.

The unscientific road has been constructed for the last one month. Nearly five hundred vehicles ply daily on the road connecting Church road to Vitalavadi road. School children also walk on the road. However the vehicles get stuck in the half covered ditches created after digging.

The heavy rain during the last fews days has created sludge that gets splashed on the pedestrians.

The area has more than 200 houses. One can only walk carefully on the road due to present situation.

The local people have expressed anguish that they may have to carry the sick to the hospitals as vehicles are unable to ply. People have urged the concerned to stop the work and fill the ditches properly to avert accidents and injuries.
