Sullia: Rai criticizes politicization of religious conversion rumours

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Sep 27: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Ramanath Rai, condemned attempts being made by some vested interests to reap political benefit out of religious conversion rumours. He noted that some people have been spreading hatred on this issue and disturbing peace, adding that this is a dangerous tactic.

He was speaking after visiting the house of Deekshit Gowda, about whom rumours were floated that he had undergone religious conversion and that he had embraced Islam. The minister talked to his family members during this visit.

Deekshit Gowda

Deekshit himself has stated that he has not undergone religious conversion. His family members have filed missing complaint. People know the truth. Still rumours are being floated about religious conversion with the sole aim of getting political benefit, he alleged.

Local block Congress president, Venkappa Gowda, general secretary, Gangadhar P S, S Samshuddin, Dr Raghu, P A Muhammed, and parents of Deekshit were present.

Govt should book and arrest hate mongers under goonda act and this is the only solution. Hate mongers are trying for political benefit under the advice of their masters. the actual people behind this should be arrested and banned for any political activity / speech etc etc.

@ Rajesh, Ofcourse you and sena are concerned about your people moving to other religion then you have to stop them by doing social work and make them self sufficient and see that at least they get their basic needs fulfilled, so if you are really concerned start working now and give the list of name of branches of senas where these poor and downtrodden can be referred to otherwise it will be considered it is only show baazi of moral senas.

Unlike other Asian countries like Nepal Thailand Indonesia we are far more better in acquiring English.
There was never a forcible conversion anywhere.

With respects to all why on earth people from DK are becoming more sensitive about religion these days. Gone are those childhood days when I eagerly use to wait for our neigbhour Appu Parbulu and masada saiber to come home as they both had great sense of humour and they were very close friends of my mama. Believe it or not religion will keep on changing. After Hinduism Christianity came into this world then Islam and many other religions. God remained same though. People have their own views and why not. I would humbly appeal to all our feloow human beings specially from DK to resort to humanity and become good human beings. God whichever name you call will only be happy to see more humanity than religious rituals. On conversion, I am of the opinion that if one is not happy with the religion in which he is born he can never be happy with any other religion. One should always respect all the religions and try to practice and appreciate the core good principles of all religions.

    Mr. Shety,

There was some belief even before Hinduism came to the existence. Though Vedic scholars say that Hindu Dharma is Sanathan, that it has no beginning, one has to ponder over the fact as to why a certain tribal settlements do not have Lakshmi/Durga/Shiva/Hari images in their dwellings. Why they have images carved out of stone/wood in their 'Gudi'. Why are they not satvic and why they offer animal sacrifices.

True, Christianity and Islam came after Hinduism. But the fact remains that there is a faith still existed before Hinduism. In that case, who introduced Hinduism to the world ? That too with birth branding like Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shoodra? Why favour to some, discrimination to others ?

If Jainism, Buddhism, Sikh, Lingayat, etc., could separate from the original religion, its obvious that even today some people go about searching a different belief.

Its futile to make a huge issue of it just because politicians dread that Hinduism will cease to happen just because of one/two defectors.

I am with Congress for the reason that the party is for co-existence, equal importance to all religions unlike BJP that is run under the dictatorship of RSS. RSS insists that all Indians are HINDUS ! I will remain with Congress, whether the Gandhis are part of it or otherwise. If you call this my slavery to Gnadhis, read below :

    Shankar,

In Africa (as well as India), there are pockets of human dwellings who still practice the worship of an object carved out of earthly matters. It started from the time of ancient human civilisation when man feared the thunder/lightening, scorching heat, storm/rains. Man made Sun the God and worshipped it seeking relief from heat, he worshipped moon seeking it to remain fuller, to be able to move about in darkness, he crated wind-God, rain-God, so on.

At present too, when such tribes continue their belief, there are people (who think their modified belief is correct hence) influence the tribes to adopt the new faith. This was at the time when my forefathers were the tribal decedents whom Christianity converted first. Believe it or not, today there are tribes in Indian territory whom VHP/RSS safeguarding so that they don't go Christian/Muslim way but come to Hindu way.

Well, for you, even those missionaries go to work with AIDS/Abola patients too look like to have gone to convert the sick. Who can instil right information in you ? Let me tell one thing for sure - I am happy as a Christian and I respect a born Hindu, Muslim, Hindu, Christian or any faith believer for what he/she is but I will not hold the same respect for him/her when I find out that the person converted over enticement of object or emotion - whether he comes in or goes out of any religion - including Christianity. Yes - constitutional right is there for personal safe guard and harmony but nobody will like migrating over enticement.

Believe it or not, Churches today don't convert people over the counter, they make it mandatory to produce court order to accept an incumbent. And, to convert someone for Christianity one require an established, registered Church, no man with a bible in his hand can convert anybody to Christianity - this is the fact - believe it or not !

Why don't you go after the biological parents and find out whether they were Hindus ? Why don't you accuse them of contributing to reduction in Hindu religion if you think the children were indeed Hindus' kin ?
