Chikkamagaluru, Sep 28: It is reliably learnt that criminal investigation department (CID), which investigated the suicide case of deputy superintendent of police, Kallappa Handibag, has given clean chit to both MLA, C T Ravi and MLC, M K Pranesh from the district. It is said that Kallappa, who always followed the principles of simple living and honesty, ended his life, overwhelmed at his name having figured in the first information report relating to abduction of a financier.

Rumours had been running thick and thin about the involvement of the legislators in this case as Praveen Khandya, who was accused of masterminding the kidnap, happens to be a Sangh Parivar activist. CID officers who questioned the duo and obtained their statements, have concluded that they did not get any strong evidence to prove involvement of these two legislators in the case.

CID says that as usual, these two had met district superintendent of police, Santosh Babu, and discussed the issue of allegation against Handibag after coming to know that a senior officer from their constituency was facing serious allegation. They had discussed the matter of Kallappa's alleged involvement in Tejas Gowda's kidnap case. However, the CID could not get any evidence about these two legislators either having put any efforts to include the name of Kallappa in the first information report or entangling him in kidnap case. So, the statements obtained from both of them would be enclosed to the charge sheet expected to be filed in the court here within a few days, officials have informed.
