Mangalore: Flower, Medicinal Herb Expo at Pilikula Begins

Mangalore, Dec 21: A flower, fruits and medicinal herb exhibition as part of Karavali Utsav began at Pilikula Nisargadhama near here on Friday December 21. 

Rose, Dianthus, Zinnia, Anthurium, Casmes, Bougainvillea and much more awaits visitors at Pilikula at the exhibition.  As announced by Nisargadhama director J R Lobo at a press conference, the expo will be held till Saturday January 5. The main aim of the exhibition is to boost tourism in the region.

Almost 11,000 flowers plants, over 500 medicinal herbs of 32 different types, 24 types of vegetables, 7 different types of roses, 6 types of orchids and 14 breeds of bonsai's will be at the exhibition.

The official inauguration of the exhibition will be at 4.30 on Friday evening.  The visitors will have to pay Rs 5 as entry fee.  J R Lobo further said that last year around 40,000 people had visited the exhibition and this year more visitors are expected.
