Mangaluru: Chain snatching- Elderly woman becomes victim during morning walk

Mangaluru, Sep 28: Miscreants snatched away a chain from an elderly woman who was on her morning walk towards Bharath Beedi from Kadri Temple on Wednesday, September 28.

The woman to lost her 'Mallige Sara' weighing around 10 grams is Nagarathnamma (60) from Kadri.

Nagarathnamma uses the same route for her daily walk. This morning two youth who came by a two- wheeler passed along with the way three times before snatching away the chain from her.

One man got down from the Activa scooter behind her while the other stopped the vehicle at a distance in front of her before snatching away the chain and fleeing away with it.

Kadri inspector Maruti Nayak along with the other personnel visited the spot.

Further investigation is on.

A case has been registered at Kadri police station.

    The entire city should have CCTV. we have one of the most expensive flats in Mangalore,but we do not have sufficient CCTV。The CCTV will be useful not for snatch crimes but also other night brawls,jobless moral police, all can be monitored.

    we Indians are mostly women fond of Gold,ornaments ,Show others our wealth,always be better than neighbours.But days are now changed .with more Gold ,thieves too are more interested to have it.Previously one who doesnt have used to leih from neighbours for weddings and they used to trust.Now you are not sure leih article come back safe in origin,or a rolled Gold.Many have Gold but in safe,so no Need of leih article.Why collect Gold and pay Banks.in Banks too is not safe.I myself realized once ,since bank lost the paper,couldnt find,so no Gold.we in Europe have no Chance of wearing Gold often since it is cold ,have to wear mantel over,so noone sees whether one wears Gold or not.Only by big ceremonys one sees women wear some jewellarys,but moderate.Better wear in India some imitations for daily use,and some fest,weddings wear your jewellarys and Keep back in lockers soon after.

    IS IT NECESSARY TO WEAR VALUABLES OR GOLD DURING MORNING WALK?
    I TRAVELLED MANY COUNTRIES IN MIDDLE EAST AND EUROPE. ONLY OUR ASIAN ESPECIALLY INDIAN, SRILANKAN, BENGALI AND SOME ASIAN COUNTRIES ARE CRAZY FOR GOLD/SILVER/DIAMONDETC.GO TO EUROPE U WILL NEVER SEE LADIES DO SHOW OFF WEARING GOLD. EVEN IN MIDDLE EAST GO AND SEE ARAB WOMEN, THEIR GOLD ORNAMENTS ARE NOT VISIBLE. THEY COVER THEIR BODY. WE SHOULD LEARN FROM THEM.
    I AM SORRY TO SAY WE INDIANS WANT TO SHOW OTHERS ABOUT OUR WEALTH. AND WHEN TRAGEDY ATTACKS WE BLAMING. NO USE AT ALL.. FIRST SAFETY. BE CAREFULL WHILE WALKING THROUGH LONELY PLACES.

    During mornings street lights are switched off before 6.am which is almost dark,one cannot see others face during this time it's a plus point to these snatchers .If we request these person to switch off lights atleast at 6.15 am they will shout as us
    Even in Sunday evning street lights get on within 4.30 pm

    Whether men or women, better not to wear gold chain while going for walk in the morning or in the evening(dawn and dusk). One should make it a habit to keep costly items at home, carry only an identity card while going for walk.

    Tommorrow Bambina Chinamma-Muthu sara.
    Day after-Kokilamaa-Bindige sara.
    As long as Ammas wear saras and go for morning walks these things will happen.
