Mangaluru: Woman mistakenly brushes teeth with poisonous powder, dies

Mangaluru , Sep 30: In a tragic incident, a woman here has died after using poisonous powder assuming it to be tooth powder for brushing her teeth.

The deceased is identified as Kavitha (26) from Savanoor, Kannada Kumeru. Her husband is employed abroad.

Kavitha had married four months ago and had come from her husband’s house in Kundapur to her parent’s house for some passport related work.

Kavitha had unknowingly used some poisonous powder for brushing her teeth in the morning on September 24. She was admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru. However she died without responding to treatment on September 28.

A police case stands registered in Bellare police station.

    TOOTH PASTE MAY BE IN BATH ROOM OR NEAR WASH BASIN.ANY POISON MAY BE IN SEPARATE UNTOUCHABLE PLACE.HOW IT IS MISSING TO USE?IF USED BY MISTAKENLY THEN WILL NOT BE HAPPENED ANYTHING BECAUSE PASTE IS NOT GOING INSIDE OF STUMACK.IT IS MISTEROUSE ISSUE WILL COME OUT TRUTH BY ENQUIRY.

    Something fishy, cant rule out murder conspiracy or suicide. Whatever the poison is it will be felt in seconds and normal people spit it out, no one swallows.. despite forcefully fed.

    @Ravi kapu,I dont think it is a suicide.She was planning to get a passport.One never know,can also some one mixed with Intention to harm one,.Most probably the poisonous powder was kept in the same place where toothbrush powder kept.Atleast could have labelled .The Person who installed there was absolutely senseless.In villages mostly they Keep either rat poison or some poisonous medicine for cultivation purpose.It was really bad luck soon after marriage she couldn't enjoy her luck.May her Soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathy to the Family.

    sad news. i was really sorry to hear a news 1 year back in Udupi a child died sue to mistaking rat poison for pepper powder. And he consumed it and died. People must be extremely careful when using anything as food or on our body.
