Karkala: Two brothers perish in auto-bus collision

Karkala, Oct 3: A bus and an auto rickshaw got involved in a collision near Billabail bridge at Shivapura near Hebri in the taluk on the evening of Sunday October 2. Two people lost their lives in this accident.

The deceased were Guruprasad (26), driver of the ill-fated auto rickshaw, and his brother, Vasant (30).

Guruprasad was driving his three-wheeler towards Hebri from Shivapura with his elder brother, Vasant, in passengers' seat, when a mini bus moving towards Udupi from the direction of Hebri knocked the auto rickshaw down. While Guruprasad died on the spot, his vehicle was badly mangled.

Vasant, who had suffered grave injuries, was admitted into Manipal hospital. He however, died there later.

Relating to the incident, a case about the incident was registered in Hebri police station.

    This happened near my house, although the riksha was at fault for more than 70â„… as it was overtaking, the bus was moving in eccess of 80 km. Its a accident with Contributory negligence. Mini buses & regular buses has become a huge problem in our roads as they are not punished for rash & overspeediing. They have a good relationship with police & owners of these buses are influential, no body care about following rules.

    Mr. Sanjay, unity is strength all villagers join together and see that driver si punished for rash driving I am sure he will be in jail politicians get scared when people number increases fighting for common cause.

    Check the speed of bus. Heavy policing needed to regulate the bus Otherwise many accidents will happen and many innocent people will see death. This is unfortunate I am feeling very sad

    v sad and unfortunate incident May their soul RIP. they may be the bread earning members of their family.

    People, community members should unite and strict action to be taken against bus driver for reckless driving and see that he doesn't come out on bail. these pvt buses driving recklessly are becoming main murderous on road, they behave as if the road belongs to only them.

    If these driver taught a lesson other drivers may take a clue and drive safely.

    Buses are fast becoming YAMA's vahanas as they take lives of two wheeler riders, Rickshaw's passengers and pedestrians due to their reckless fast driving to overtake other passenger buses due to competition and to reach their destination in time.
