Bantwal: Panchayat president, two others, booked for locking up PDO office

Bantwal, Oct 7: A complaint has been registered in the rural police station here against three persons including the president of Rayi gram panchayat. The panchayat president and two others have been accused of forcing their way into the gram panchayat office and locking up the room of panchayat development officer (PDO).

A police complaint was filed about the incident by panchayat development officer of Rayi,   P Venkatesh. The persons shown as accused in the incident happen to be panchayat president, Dayanand Saphalya, and members, Harish Acharya and  Raghava Ameen. Venkatesh said in his complaint that the trio entered the panchayat when he was not around, forcibly opened the seal of the door, locked up his room, and told the staff there that they do not want a PDO who does not obey their instructions.

Rural police have registered a case of obstructing government employee from discharging duties, against the above three persons.  The investigation is being continued.
