Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Oct 8: In an incident which occurred at Bedrody, in Bajathur village on Friday, October 7 morning, a woman got ejected out of a bus in which she was travelling and got deposited on the road. The woman suffered serious injuries in this incident.

Ratna (28), wife of Chandra from Bedrody, who suffered several injuries in this incident, stands admitted into a hospital at Mangaluru. She works in a hotel at Uppinangady where she generates computer bills. She boarded a KSRTC bus coming from Kallugudde. When the bus moved over the road hump at Bedrody bend, she lost her balance and fell out of the bus.

There are road humps at two spots at the highway bend near Bedrody which lies on national  highway 75. Although the humps were erected to reduce accidents there,  accidents, in fact, are rising because of them. In the vicinity of this spot, there are about seven to eight humps, none of which have been painted with white stripes as required. Vehicle drivers do not notice the humps that are located at the end of a slope where the vehicles approach them at high speed.

The department can do a favour to the road users by doing its duty of painting the humps as mandated.
