Mangaluru,  Oct 8: The helicopter in which former Prime Minister of India and national president of JDS, Deve Gowda, was travelling from Kollur to Mysuru, made an emergency landing at the international airport here on the evening of Friday, October 7.

At around 3.30 pm, on account of inclement weather, the helicopter faced difficulty in continuing with its onward journey. The pilot after that changed the direction of the helicopter towards the city airport and sought permission from the air traffic control for landing. At about 4 pm, the helicopter touched down here.

Deve Gowda waited for about 90 minutes at the airport and then proceeded to Bengaluru by a flight at 5.30 pm, police officials said.

Deve Gowda, who arrived at Kollur on Thursday, had performed puja at the temple there on Friday morning. He was to go to Mysuru by helicopter. Due to changed circumstances, he had to take road route to Mysuru after reaching Bengaluru by flight, sources stated.
