Mangaluru: Leena D'Silva retires after 40 years of teaching

Mangaluru, Oct 8: Leena D'Silva, who was serving as teacher at St Joseph's Higher Primary School, Nanthoor Padavu Calvary attained the age of 60 on September 16 this year. She retired on this day after serving the school for 14 years. Prior to this, she had spent 26 years, teaching the students of St Joseph's School at Kulshekar.









On September 16, a function to celebrate her birthday and to bid farewell to her on her retirement at the end of 40 years of meritorious service, was held at the school premises. It was presided over by priest of St Sebastian Church, Bendore and convener of the school, Fr Antony Serrao. He honoured Leena by draping a shawl around her and handing her a memento.

Secretary of the church parish council, Vincent Goveas and Padavu cluster resource person, Gladys, felicitated the retiring teacher by garlanding her and presenting her fruits and flowers. Headmaster of the school, Irene L Sequeira, read out the citation and honoured the teacher. The function was well-organized in the presence of school development and monitoring committee president, members, teachers, honorary teachers, students, and parents of the students.

Leena was sent off with hearty wishes for a fulfilling retired life fortified with happiness, contentment and good health.

    I still remember my class 1C at St. Joseph's Kulshekar. Leena teacher was my class teacher. So caring, friendly teacher I'd got. Now Every time I pass through Cordelia, I remember Leena teacher's house. Thank you so much for being such a wonderful teacher.
