Muscat: Karavali food festival organized at Al Bahja hotel

Media Release

Muscat, Oct 9: The Seeb town wore a festive look last Friday October 7 where in the Karavali food festival was organized at The Al Bahja Hotel, Seeb.

The communities of Karavali Karnataka too were dressed up for the occasion to relish the flavour of Karavali cuisine.

Wow!! As we entered the hotel banquet hall, it was stunning to see the decoration with mango leaf and banana saplings lined up to welcome the Karavali crowd.

There was a display of rare items from coastal Karnataka. They were amazing and amusing too to children particularly. The Nuga-Nayer, Padi-Manchau, Pargathi, Ari lappunaKalase, BaarlappunaSer, Arithamudi, BaithaBallu, KalithaKoojeetc etc were truly attractive.

A Goodangandi (grocery shop) with Bareda Parndkail hanging all over with Beeda-Peppermnt and bottles of soda etc was very attractive.

As the crowd of coastal Karnataka filled all the three banquet halls, the proceedings began with a welcome address by the general manager of the hotel, Praveen Shetty who said it was not just the idea of business promotion but to bring our own people together; offer our own taste of Karavali in an atmosphere of home away from home.

Praveen thanked the huge crowd of coastal Karnataka for their spirit of support to the event and unity in practice.

Ashok Shetty of Special Technical Services (STS) wore the hat of master of ceremony while Charles took care of conducting games for the younger ones and the older ones alike.

As the chief chef of Al Bahja, UmeshPoojary, Mangalorean was seen with his spic and span white & white costume and a head gear.

Bangude Pulli Munchi, Ettigasi, Kori Rotti, Basalepundi, Kudutha Saar and so on and so forth were excellent.

The food & beverage manager, Satish Shetty was sweating as he was on his toes in overseeing the comfort of his guests.

The Muscateers would surely look forward to some more such wonderfully organized events of socio-cultural themes with opportunities to taste and relish variety of combos of Indian food in its best taste.
