Shivamogga: Raghaveshwara administers oath of protection to Math devotees

Shivamogga, Oct 9: Sri Raghaveshwarateertha Swamiji, head of the Math, delivered a benedictory address at a convention organised at Ramachandra Math's headquarters at Hosanagar in the district on Saturday, October 8. He said that he was always ready to lead actions that are aimed at the well-being of the Math and the society in general. The convention was held in the context of the administration of an oath to the followers of the Math, concerning the government's initiatives towards acquiring Lord Mahabaleshwara temple at Gokarna and appointing the administrative officer to the Math.

He said that he had been silently bearing with a series of conspiracies hatched against the Math and the temple by unscrupulous elements. "Utterances following long stretches of silence always happen to be very powerful. I do not intend to remain a mute spectator to the developments for long," he warned. He pointed out to the concerned that the number of devotees who have come for the congregation shows their intentions against meddling with the Math affairs. "Politicians can never become Sanyasis and vice versa. I wish that the politicians will not try to interfere with the Math affairs. If saints took to streets, results would be catastrophic," he said. He asserted that he has never indulged in politics but added that he is ready to be in the forefront of action needed for the protection of the Math. He asserted that devotees and followers happen to be the only ones having right over the Math which was established by Shankaracharya.

Sri Rajshekharananda Swamiji of Vajradehi Math, Gurpur Mangaluru, Ramachandra Guruji of Uttara Kashi Kapilashram, Panduranga Maharaj of Gamvara temple Kalaburagi and others were present. MLAs, Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, B Y Raghavendra, Kimmane Ratnakar and Pramod Hegde, Yakshagana artiste, Chittarani Ramachandra Hegde, and RSS leader, Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka, were present.

Before the meeting, thousands of devotees from various parts of the state and country went in a silent procession through the streets of Hosanagar. The Swamiji later administered an oath to the devotees pledging to fight till the end to protect their Math and to steadfastly resist anything that comes their way towards this end.
