Udupi, Oct 10: An extensive blood donation camp organized by the district Mogaveera Youth Organization, here, Kallianpur unit and G Shankar Family Trust of Ambalapadi in collaboration with district authority, Arogya Ayoga, Catholic Sabha, women's organization and ICYM, Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte and KMC Hospital, was held on Sunday October 9 at Millennium Auditorium, Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte.
Fr Philip Neri Aranha, parish priest of Mount Rosary Church Kallianpur inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp.
Addressing the gathering Fr Philip said, "Donating blood is one of the best forms of charity in the world among all other forms. More and more youth should come forward to donate blood and this is the right time to invest their energy towards this noble cause. It keeps their health in good condition."
He disclosed that to date he has donated blood 12 times. "This is a noble way of saving one’s life. Anyone can voluntarily donate blood."
Fr Philip Neri blessed the donors and receivers.
One of the guests, Janardhan Thonse, zilla panchayat member congratulated the teamwork of Mogaveera Youth Organization for organizing this good programme.
Appreciating the work of Nadoja G Shankar, Thonse said, "He has brought on a positive change among the youth by creating awareness on blood donation."
As many as 8 different organizations who extended their support were Ganesh Kanchan, president, Mogaveera Youth Organization Udupi, Juliate Chrasta, vice president, Catholic Sabha, Santhosh Carnelio, president, CS Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, Hilda Carnelio, president, women's organization, Krishna Devadiga, president of Balamaruthi Gymnastics School, Kallianpur, P Abubakkar, president, Jamia Jumma Masjid, Nejaru, Lewis D’Souza, convener of Arogya Ayoga MRC, Rohan D’Souza, president, ICYM Milagres Cathedral, Sandeep Karkara, president, Namma Balaga, Laxminagar,Umesh Shetty, president of taxi, maxicab and goods tempo owners and drivers’ union, Santhekatte, Arun Kundar, president of Old students' union, Dr TMA Pai high school, Kallianpur and Harish, president, New Star sports club, Thonse, Nidamballi, Dr Divya, blood bank director.
Vignesh from Nejaru an MCom employee of SBM Bank, Dr Naveen Kumar Thonse, PhD assistant lecturer, Manipal University and Arun Kundar from Kallianpur were felicitated here on recognition of their remarkable work.
Ramanand Salian, president, Mogaveera Youth Organization, Kallianpur unit presided over the programme.
The large scale blood donation camp has been conducted for the past eight years. The organization collect 15,000 units annually.
Hundreds of youth participated enthusiastically and donated blood at the camp.
