Viacom18 Motion Pictures, Lionsgate collaborate for five-movie deal


New Delhi, Oct 10 (IANS): Indian production banner Viacom18 Motion Pictures has joined hands with leading Hollywood studio Lionsgate for the marketing and distribution of five riveting Hollywood movies, including "Deepwater Horizon" and "La La Land".

With the multi-movie collaboration, Viacom18 Motion Pictures promises to bring an exciting Hollywood movie line-up. The announcement was made on Monday via a statement.

Starting with the Mark Wahlberg-starrer dramatic thriller "Deepwater Horizon", followed by the highly anticipated romantic musical comedy "La La Land", starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, the movie watch-list includes three more potential blockbusters.

Other titles are: "Patriots Day", "Power Rangers" and "Nerve". These will be exclusively distributed by Viacom18 Motion Pictures in India.

Ajit Andhare, Chief Operating Officer, Viacom18 Motion Pictures, said: "It has been our endeavour to get the best of Hollywood for the growing Indian audience for English films.

"Partnering with Lionsgate is an important step in that strategic direction. With titles like 'La La Land', 'Deepwater Horizon', and 'Nerve' in the list, we promise refreshingly compelling content for the growing fan-base of Hollywood movies in India."

Wendy Reeds, Lionsgate's Executive Vice President of International Sales, said: "This is a territory with tremendous box office potential, and we expect these five eagerly-anticipated films to resonate with Indian moviegoers all year-long."

Morris Street Advisors Pvt Ltd, which represents Lionsgate in India, facilitated this collaboration between Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Lionsgate.
