Enjoyed experimenting for '31st October': Vir Das

Mumbai, Oct 10 (IANS): Actor-comedian Vir Das gained around 11 kg for his role in "31st October", which features him as a Sikh man. He says experimenting with the character and his look for the movie was an enjoyable experience but "quite a task".

Usually seen trying to tickle the funny bone of the audience, Vir has a serious role in "31st October", a film based on the aftermath of Indira Gandhi's assassination. He essays a father of two in the movie, in which he is paired with Soha Ali Khan.

Apart from trying his hands on something new, Vir also got to experiment with his physical appearance as it was the requirement of the role.

Talking about it, Vir said in a statement: "It is a drastic change when you have to lose or gain weight for a particular character. Everything changes -- from your eating habits to the daily routine, but if done in the right way, it doesn't really seem a task and keeps you healthy and fit."

Of his character, he said: "I would say it's my first time and I really have enjoyed every bit of this experimenting with the role and I hope the audiences will like it. It was a task, though."

The film is releasing on October 21.
