M'luru: Vedike holds protest, allege murder as cause of death

Mangaluru, Oct 10: Under the aegis of Kulur Nagarika Hitarakshana Samiti, a protest was held at Kulur on Sunday October 9. The protesters alleged that the case pertaining to death of Prema (35) from Kulur on September 30 at the residence of her husband at Kavoor was actually a case of murder, not suicide as was made out. The protesters said that Prema's husband, Anil, was behind this murder.

"Prema and Anil had got married in 2015 after falling in love. Anil's mother, Radha, and sisters, Sumitra and Sudha, used to create scenes for every petty issue. As per the statement recorded by the tahsildar during the inquest of the body, he was made to believe that Prema was depressed after her husband chided her for preparing only two omelettes for himself and her, and questioned her about her failure to prepare food for the others. This gave rise to depression, which in turn, led to suicide, it was explained. But Prema is not so mentally fragile to end her life for such a small issue," the protesters stated.

They claimed that Anil, his mother and sisters, were behind this murder. They asked the police to find out Anil, who has gone missing. "We suspect that the police are aware of his current whereabouts. We want justice in this case," said Prema's sister, Veena and Harish Poojary, who had taken part in the protest.
