M'lore: Violence at B C Road, Police Resort to Lathi Charge

Mangalore, Dec 28: Incidents of violence and stone-pelting at buses have occured at B C Road here, as per initial reports reaching Daijiworld office.

A clash between two groups erupted at around 2.30 pm regarding illegal transportation of cattle. The miscreants damaged several shops in B C Road and Kaikamba. Two people are said to have been injured.

To disperse the crowd police resorted to lathi charge. At present the situation is tense, though under control.

Puttur assistant superintendent of police Harsha P S and circle inspector Lingappa Bangera are monitoring the situation. Additional police force has also been deployed.

Buses passing through B C Road have been detained and presently buses going to Padil, Arkala and Volachil have also been stopped. Buses plying to Bangalore have also been affected.

    There was a statement from our MP, Mr. Sadananda Gowda, a few days ago suggesting that the 'Gujarat model' would be replicated here. With elections nearing, I guess this is just a trailer of what is possibly going occur in his party's quest for power. This, I guess, is more important than the lives and property of ordinary citizens

    My opinion is police should shoot them at the site of violence at least 1 or 2 times, and then only people will be scared to do violence.

    Its very sad that some people are trying to provoke the peace loving Hindus by deliberately doing cow trafficking. I   being a resident of this area feel ashamed of my fellow Muslim brothers for resorting to such provocative acts to disrupt the commnal harmony in the region.
