Kim sues website for claiming she faked Paris robbery

Los Angeles, Oct 12 (IANS): Reality TV star Kim Kardashian and her attorneys have sued a website and its founder for libel, saying the outlet claimed she lied about being held up at gunpoint and robbed in Paris earlier this month.

According to variety.com, Kardashian has sued website mediatakeout.com and its founder Fred Mwangaguhunga.

"MTO and its owner Mwangaguhunga published several articles on their website mediatakeout.com, in which they claimed, without any factual support whatsoever, that Kardashian faked the robbery, lied about the violent assault, and then filed a fraudulent claim with her insurance company to bilk her carrier out of millions of dollars," read the suit, reports variety.com.

"Defendants' malicious publication of the articles, which paint the victim of a serious crime as a criminal herself, is libelous per se," it further read.

Kim was reportedly held up at gunpoint, tied up and locked in a bathroom of her Paris hotel room, and she was robbed of jewellery and other items.

"Defendants published the articles under patently false and misleading headlines stating, in no uncertain terms, that Kardashian ‘staged' a robbery and committed a federal crime by engaging in insurance fraud," the suit said.
