Kundapur, Oct 13: “Everybody has unique talents. We only have to identify them. We must encourage the talented to achieve great heights. Success is assured in the process,” said Udupi Catholic diocese bishop Dr Jerald Isac Lobo.

He was speaking after participating in the felicitation programme held in Kundapur for Anup D' Costa, the Volleyball player there.

“India is a prosperous country. We should indulge ourselves in different activities along with patriotism. We should work sincerely in our areas of interest to bring a good name to the country, society and our parents,” Dr Lobo said.

Winner of Karnataka state Ekalavya award, Anoop D' Costa, who made a name for himself in the international arena was felicitated separately by Kundapur Catholic Sabha and Udupi Diocese on occasion.

President of Catholic Sabha Udupi centre Valerian Fernandes, state president of All India Catholic Union Walter Cyril Pinto, parish priest of Kundapur church Fr Anil D'Souza and zonal president of Catholic Sabha Flyvon D'Souza congratulated Anup D'Costa.

Anup D'Costa who spoke after receiving the honour said, the development of interest in sports alongside education can make a person a good sportsman besides helping him remain healthy. On the two realms complementing each other, he said, “Sports also strengthens our intellectual ability.”

Secretary Shaila D Almeida, director of Jeevan Jyothi camp Dr Sandeep D'Almeida, Kiran Crasta, Alwyn Quadros and Prescilla were present at the occasion.
